Decided to install Windows 10 again (dual booted this time) thinking. Based on my experiment, the issue most likely due to device driver. Rebooted Windows 8 to normal mode and the problem is solved. Copied the windows 7 driver into above folder and renamed it to the one used by Windows 8.
